BLI Cohort
2024

This year poses unique challenges for leaders of multiracial/multicultural institutions. Brava Leaders is launching the Brava Leadership Institute, offering a 20-person cohort to develop essential leadership skills, reflect on systemic challenges, and plan for team nourishment. The BLI 2025 cohort will have three retreats and monthly check-ins to support their growth through a demanding year.

For three years, Brava Leaders has engaged with many individuals on the premise that institutions often support homogeneity. When best practices in social change and arts are applied in diverse settings, they can hinder rather than help leaders facing internal challenges. To create successful multiracial/multicultural institutions, we must establish norms that foster success. We are committed to providing tools and frameworks for a new generation of leadership. We define multiracial institutions as having at least 20% BIPOC and 40% women and femmes in leadership. Leaders with decision-making power in these institutions are encouraged to apply.

Ethos

This institute is led specifically through a pro-Black pro-immigrant, pro-LGBTQIA+, pro-working class, pro-disability justice lens. Participants are signing up to learn a vulnerable leadership style that examines systems. This requires robust participation to be effective. Please read through our ethos, beliefs, and values on our website to ensure this is a fit for you.

Level of Leadership

This institute is specifically designed for leaders with consequential decision-making power. In many places this means C-suite or executive leadership roles. However, some institutions do not work off that title structure. We will not limit selection to title, but to responsibility. If you manage the largest tradeoffs between financial sustainability, culture, and impact/product in your institution - this institute is designed for you.

Tuition

The tuition for Cohort 2024 is $1,000, plus travel and lodging costs for the in-person meeting in Pasadena/Los Angeles, CA.

The cost for each person is usually $5K to $10K, based on your budget. With support from the Marguerite Casey Foundation, we can lower the tuition. If this cost is too high, please contact us.
